August 2, 2018
The Montachusett Suicide Prevention Task Force is hosting its 6th Annual ‘Ride of Your Life’, a fundraiser to support suicide prevention and education.
Held on Sunday, August 19th, the ‘Ride of Your Life’ features a three-hour motorcycle ride through North Central Massachusetts with stops at local motorcycle shops along the way. Ride registration begins at 8am at Monty Tech High School, 1050 Westminster Street in Fitchburg, with kickstands up at 9:30 am. There is a $25 fee for motorcycle riders and a $15 fee for passengers, which includes lunch, maps, entertainment, and on-route refreshments. A BBQ lunch will be held at 11:30 am at Monty Tech and is open to the public. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for kids under 12.
This year’s event will feature door prizes, raffles, health clinics and information about the Montachusett Suicide Prevention Task Force and its suicide prevention initiatives. Attendees will be able to take a chance on over $2,500 in raffle items, including Red Sox memorabilia signed by Craig Kimbrel and Mitch Moreland, a autographed photo and basketball by Brian Scalabrine of the Boston Celtics, day passes for Great Wolf Lodge, Canobie Lake Park tickets and Whale Watch tickets, courtesy of WAAF, gift certificates to local attractions, restaurants, museums and more!
Returning for this year’s event is a job fair hosted by the North Central Mass Career Center. Over 30 local employers will be on-site to take applications from 10 am until noon.
WAAF is this year’s premier local media partner for ‘Ride of Your Life’. The station’s street team will be on-site and broadcasting from Monty Tech from 8-11 am, featuring a 2-hour appearance from Mistress Carrie, one of WAAF’s most popular DJs. Mistress Carrie, born and raised in Leominster, started her career as an intern at WAAF, working her way up to becoming a radio show host and the WAAF Music Director. As part of a military family and avid supporter of our nation’s troops, she was the first “non-news” journalist embedded with US troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, and is a 2-time recipient of the Commanders Award for Public Service.
Premier Sponsors for the 6th Annual ‘Ride of Your Life’ include Heywood Healthcare, Massachusetts Departments of Mental Health and Public Health, Montachusett Regional Technical High School and Woods’ Ambulance.
Proceeds from the event will support a variety of suicide prevention initiatives. For more information, please visit www.suicidepreventiontaskforce.org or call Barbara Nealon, Director of Social Service & Multicultural Services for Heywood Hospital, at 978-630-6386.
