Ebola: What you need to know

Ebola: What you need to know and how Heywood Healthcare is preparing.

We have all been witnessing the extensive media coverage regarding the Ebola resurgence in West Africa, and the first fatality of a patient treated in the U.S. and the infection of some of his caretakers at the Texas hospital where he was treated. The recent scare of a possible Ebola infected patient (who ultimately tested negative) at Yale-New Haven Hospital in Connecticut – brings this issue is closer to home than any of us would like.

I want to assure you that the health, well-being and safety of our community, staff, patients and visitors is our top priority. Our hospital leadership, Patient Care, Infection Prevention and Safety teams has been monitoring this situation closely since its development, working with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to ensure we are prepared in the unlikely event that a patient infected with the Ebola virus seeks treatment at our hospitals and medical facilities. ---read the rest of the President's Community Message
