President's Message

Dear Friends of Heywood Healthcare,

I want to provide some exciting news about Heywood Medical Group's team and upcoming growth plans.

Last fall, Dr. Thomas Dunzendorfer joined Heywood Medical Group to fill a gap in our Gastroenterology practice, and I am pleased to share that he is joining us as a full-time member of our care team, working to improve access for patients and add new and expanded services to our offerings.

I am also pleased to announce Dr. Peter Gibson is joining Heywood's Heart and Vascular Center care team in May as they continue to provide exceptional cardiology care to our community.

Over the next couple of months, our Medical Group will add three new primary care practices to our network.
Dr. Katie Fitzgerald and Jessica Polana, NP, will relocate their practice from Heywood Family Medicine in downtown Gardner to Heywood Hospital in the current UMass Specialty Suite at our South Entrance. The new practice will be called Encompass Primary Care, and we expect they will start seeing patients at Heywood in April.

Dr. Maireni Cruz and Lauren Gibbons, PA, will relocate their practice from Tully Family Medicine to the first floor of the new Medical Office Building at Athol Hospital in May. In July, they will add Dr. Olha Duda and an additional advanced practitioner to the team. The new practice will be called Athol Primary Care, and we are excited to be expanding primary care access to the Athol region.
In June, we will welcome Dr. Ashley Warner to our primary care team and will open Orange Primary Care in Orange, Massachusetts. With this new practice, we will continue to provide access and stabilize primary care in the western region of our service area.

The Athol community is experiencing a rebirth, and we are delighted to take part in its reemergence. From the North Quabbin Plaza with Market Basket and Hobby Lobby, to the relocation and growth of Tully Family Practice to the opening of Tully Walk-In Care, Athol is a happening community. With the opening of the new Heywood Medical Group suite at Athol Hospital in May, we will expand our specialty outreach in Athol, adding additional specialty practices and allowing current specialty practices more clinic time to improve access and growth in the western region.

Lastly, we look at southern New Hampshire as a region where we can provide important specialty services like orthopedics, gynecology and others. In May, we will open a multi-specialty office in Rindge, NH, providing initial consultations and follow-up visits in our new office. Patients will have access to our full health system for diagnostic testing, surgeries and other services.

As always, I welcome your thoughts and suggestions on making Heywood Healthcare and Heywood Medical Group our communities' trusted choice for exceptional patient-centered care. Please feel free to contact me at President@heywood.org.

Yours in Good Health,

Win Brown Signature
