Hospital Honored by
Masspro
Athol Memorial Hospital was recently
honored by Masspro, Massachusetts’
federally designated healthcare
quality improvement organization for
exemplary commitment to improving
the quality of care for patients in
the areas of Acute Myocardial
Infarction (AMI), Heart Failure (HF),
Pneumonia and Surgical Care. This
award recognized Athol Memorial
Hospital’s participation in an
initiative of the Centers for
Medicare and Medicaid Services to
achieve exemplary benchmark
performance.
“We are very pleased to receive this
award,” stated Lucille Songer, Athol
Memorial Hospital’s Chief Nursing
Officer and Quality Improvement
Manager. “It shows how well we are
doing and affirms our dedication in
meeting high performance standards.”

Athol Memorial Hospital, established
in 1950, is a twenty-five bed
Critical Access Hospital and Primary
Stroke Center serving the nine North
Quabbin towns with an expanding
scope of outpatient services. The
hospital is fully accredited by the
Joint Commission on Accreditation of
Healthcare Organizations and is
licensed by the Massachusetts
Department of Public Health.
