Hospital Schedules Flu Clinics

Flu Clinics Scheduled Athol Memorial Hospital, in conjunction with the Athol Board of Health, is providing the following free flu clinics:

Tuesday, October 28, 2008
10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
at the Athol/Orange Elks
92 New Athol Road in Orange

Wednesday, November 19, 2008
10 a.m. to 12 noon
at The Peqouig Apartment Building
(enter through the lobby)
416 Main Street, Athol

Tuesday, December 2, 2008
4 to 6 p.m.
Liberty Hall
Athol Town Hall
584 Main Street, Athol

Vaccination is recommended for all persons 50 years of age and older; women who will be pregnant during flu season; persons with chronic pulmonary (including asthma), cardiovascular (except hypertension) renal, hepatic, hematological or metabolic disorders (including diabetes); persons with immuno-suppression; persons who have any condition (e.g. cognitive dysfunction, seizure disorders, or other neuromuscular disorders) that can compromise respiratory function; household contacts and caregivers of children younger than 5 years of age and adults 50 years and older; household contacts and caregivers for persons in high-risk groups; healthcare personnel.

The December clinic at the Athol Town Hall will include, depending upon vaccine supply, the following groups: persons who supply essential community services, certain travelers, and anyone who wishes to reduce the likelihood of becoming ill with influenza or transmitting influenza to others, should they become infected.

Please bring all health insurance cards with you to the clinic. Clinics are free regardless of healthcare coverage. Flu vaccinations are available only to adults age 18 and older. Call Athol Memorial Hospital Community Relations at 978 249-1143 for more information.
