Patient Care Excellence Award

Emergency Services Department nurse Herve Bosse, RN, recently accepted Athol Memorial Hospital’s Patient Care Excellence Award for high honors in providing exceptional care. Cardio-Pulmonary Services won the departmental award.

The awards are held twice a year to recognize individual staff members and departments based on the results of Patient Satisfaction Surveys. The surveys are distributed to patients as part of the hospital’s “CARE (Customers Are Really Everything) Initiative.”

Athol Memorial Hospital surveys consistently reflect overall high patient satisfaction levels. Eighty-seven percent (87%) of patient surveys returned in 2008 reported “very satisfied” with the care received at the hospital and another ten percent (10%) reported “satisfied.” Patients are asked to evaluate their treatment based on quality measures such as courtesy, timeliness, and comfort. They also have the opportunity to commend any staff with a “pat on the back” for a job well done.
